Every good chat room needs a few rules. Not to make it boring, but so that everyone can have fun without someone ruining the evening for the others. In Sociale we keep it short: six rules, the same for everyone, users and staff alike. Here is what they mean in practice.

1. Freedom of Speech

Feel free to chat and express yourself. All languages are allowed: Sociale is an international room and you will hear English, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and many more. Say what you think, share your day, joke around. Freedom of speech is the starting point of everything else.

2. Mutual Respect

Freedom comes with respect. Personal insults, excessively vulgar language, constant provocation or harassment are not tolerated. You can disagree with someone, even strongly, without attacking them as a person. Users who cause serious problems may be banned.

A simple test: would you say it to their face, in front of your friends? If not, don’t type it.

3. Respect for the Staff

The staff are volunteers who give their time to keep the room running. All staff members must be treated with respect. If you disagree with a decision, talk about it calmly, in private, or through the contact page. Disrespecting or undermining the staff may result in a ban.

4. Transparency

Rules are only fair if everyone can check how they are applied. That’s why any ban longer than 10 hours must be backed by screenshot evidence. Short 1-hour bans are exempt, because they are used to calm things down quickly.

5. Staff Impartiality

This rule is for the staff. Banning someone for personal reasons is strictly prohibited. Punishments must be fair and the same for everyone, whether you are a friend of the staff or a new face in the room.

6. Anti-Spam

Nobody likes a chat full of floods. Users who spam the chat with emojis or many consecutive messages receive a permanent XP ban. Write one message, wait for the conversation, enjoy it. Your XP will grow on its own.

Why these rules matter

Six rules are easy to remember, and they protect the two things that make Sociale special: being able to talk freely and feeling safe while you do it. If you see someone breaking them, don’t answer with insults. Tell a member of the staff and let them handle it.
