What is xat chat, in simple terms
xat is a chat platform that has been running for many years. Its building block is the "chat": a room with its own name, its own address and its own team. Each one lives at xat.com/ followed by the room name, so Sociale, for example, is at xat.com/Sociale.
A xat chatbox is the same room embedded in another website. That is why you can open Sociale on xat.com or directly on mysociale.net/chat: it is one room, reachable from two places. Messages, users and staff are shared, wherever you enter from.
Inside, every room works alike: a main conversation, a list of who is online, private messages and the smilies and effects that people have unlocked. What makes rooms different is the community around them: the language, the rules, the games and the people who keep it running.
xats, powers, days and XP
xats
The xat currency. It is used to get powers and other extras. You do not need any xats to chat.
Powers
Optional add-ons that unlock smilies, effects, name styles and special features. See the ones you can win on the xat powers page.
Days
A time-based xat subscription that gives access to extra features. Like powers, days are optional.

Ranks
Each room has its own hierarchy, from guests to the main owner, that decides who can moderate.
Chatboxes
A xat room can be embedded in any site, so a community can host its chat on its own website.

Guest
Anyone who enters a room. Guests can read and write, following the rules of that room.
Member
A regular given member status by the room staff, often after spending time in the community.
Moderator
Keeps the chat friendly: warns, kicks or bans people who break the rules.
Owner
Manages moderators and the room settings, and helps run events.
Main owner
The top rank of a room, responsible for its direction. In Sociale the main owners are xEmma, Dev, Papu and Beei.
How to join a xat room, step by step

Is xat free, and does it work on mobile?
Yes, xat is free to use. You can enter rooms, chat and send private messages without paying. xats, powers and days are extras: some people buy them, others never do. In Sociale, some powers can even be won for free, such as ROSHI and JOE in giveaways, or Ruby, Gold and Purple for the top 3 of Super Powers 2026.
xat runs in the browser on computers and phones, so on mobile you just open the room address. For Sociale, mysociale.net can also be installed as an app on Android, iPhone or computer, with notifications for events.
xat today is not the same as in its early days: the platform has kept evolving, and what keeps a room alive is still its community. Sociale is a community room on xat, run by volunteers. It is not the xat company and does not speak for it.
