New on Sociale: Staff of the week. Every week the 3 most active members of our staff win 5,000 xats each: 15,000 xats every week, to say thank you to the people who make the room welcoming, safe and alive.
Helpers, moderators and owners give their time every day: they welcome new people, answer questions, keep the room calm, help on the site. Now that work is measured in a fair way and rewarded every Monday.
How it works
Four simple steps. The week goes from Monday to Sunday (Italian time).
- Be in the chat, for real. Talk, welcome people, answer questions.
- Moderate with care. Kicks, gags and bans done well protect the room.
- Work on the site. Posts in the feed, comments, help requests, votes, articles, events and work in the panel.
- Win on Monday. The 3 members with the most points win 5,000 xats each and the Staff of the week badge on their profile.
Keeping the chat open is not enough
We wanted a ranking that rewards real work, not just being online. This is how it counts:
- Real activity in the chat. Every minute we check who of the staff is in the room. A 5-minute block counts only if in that time you wrote at least one message or did an action. Being in the room without writing counts 0.
- No points for flooding. Messages count up to 20 every 5 minutes: writing a lot of short messages to get points does not help.
- Fair moderation. Kicks, gags, bans and unbans count, with a weekly limit. A ban removed a few minutes later does not count.
- Work on the site counts too. Posts in the feed, comments, replies in the Help center, votes on team applications and sticker packs, articles, events and actions in the panel.
- Every action has a weekly limit, so nobody can win by doing just one thing many times.
We never read the text of the messages: we only count them.

To win you need your xat account linked to Sociale (in Settings → xat) and at least 2 hours of real activity in the chat in the week.
The ranking of the staff
The members of the staff have their own ranking page, updated every minute. At the top there is the podium of the week:
Below, the top 5 with everything that is measured: time of real activity in the chat, messages, moderation and work on the site. A coloured bar shows how much of the score comes from the chat, from moderation and from the site.
And every member of the staff sees their own week: points, position and how much is missing to reach the minimum to win.
The names and numbers in these pictures are examples.
Every Monday: the winners
On Monday, just after midnight, the week closes by itself. The podium is announced in the Sociale Team group, where the whole staff is, with a card like this one:
The three winners get a notification and the Staff of the week badge on their profile. The 5,000 xats are sent by an owner of the room.

When does it start?
The first week with prizes goes from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October. The first three winners will be announced on Monday 19 October. Then it goes on every week.
